Minder
Younger Minds Project
While Minder was originally developed for university students, we understand that the experiences and struggles of secondary students are unique. High school can be a challenging time navigating academic pressure, new relationships, and finding oneself.
This app is meant to provide evidence-based skills and information for any student who may be struggling, or just wants to build resiliency in their everyday life. We also understand how important it is for e-tools to link back to the real world, and so the app also seeks to connect students with appropriate services within their local community.
Once we complete all our stages of testing and feedback, we hope to offer this app for free to secondary school-aged students in British Columbia.
An adaption for high school students, Minder features six activity islands for students to choose from, depending on their needs.
Students can access activities relating to student life, wellness, relationships, sadness, stress & anxiety, and substance use.
Each island contains activities to learn information and build various skills through a conversational chatbot, videos, infographics, and interactive exercises.
Students have a chance to interact with real-life peer coaches through text- or video-based support.
Students can access a tailored collection of in-person and online resources after completing a survey assessing their needs.
Students can anonymously post about a variety of topics in a moderated forum and receive responses from peer coaches.
